Rwanda has moved us in every way. Living up to its nickname of “The Land of a Thousand Hills,” this beautiful place grows its coffee between 4,000 to 6,500 feet above sea level, a high altitude that is perfect for producing delicious beans. Resting high in the hills of the Nyabihu District is the Shyira coffee washing station. After the cherries are brought to the station, workers perform the “ikinimba” to bring out the sweetness in the coffee by singing five songs while dancing and stomping on the cherries. Murago Shyira brings you a tropical, smooth-bodied cup that is enhanced with notes of citrus, red apple, and floral.
